About Damon and Melanie Owens, Pro Life Witnesses and Parents of Eight

Married 21 years, Damon and Melanie Owens have served in numerous pro-life and pro-family ministries and initiatives in the New York//New Jersey/Pennsylvania area since 1993, including marriage preparation, natural family planning, chastity, and adoption. From 2002-2012, they served as the Natural Family Planning (NFP) Coordinators for the Archdiocese of Newark (NJ). Damon and Melanie currently live in Pennsylvania where he serves as executive director of the Theology of the Body Institute, and she is the full-time homeschooling mother of their eight children Naomi, Leah, Rachel, Therese, Collette, Veronica, Olivia, and Nathan. ball2

Melanie was born and raised with seven brothers and sisters in Carson, CA. She attended Catholic schools before earning a B.S. in Sociology from U.C. Santa Barbara and an M.S.W. from U.C. Berkeley. Until the birth of her first daughter, Melanie was a Social Worker for the Pre-Natal Clinic at St. James Hospital in Newark counseling pregnant teens.

Damon was raised with his two sisters in New Jersey. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University in 1988 and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1990. Damon publishes numerous articles, and appears frequently on national Catholic radio and television. He is also an accomplished gospel singer honored with a solo during the 1995 Papal Mass at Giants Stadium.
