It was another joy filled day at Good Counsel Homes as we celebrated the baptism of Baby Elijah. Deacon Peter baptized Elijah marking the beginning of his new life in Christ while his mother, Kimberly, and his godmother, Kirsten, looked on. Kimberly came to Good Counsel after a long, hard road challenged by a sixteen-year heroin addiction. Praise be to God, Kimberly has been clean of any drug use for the last three years. During her stay here at Good Counsel, she has been working on building a stable, productive life for herself and Baby Elijah, furthering her education, and attending the One Step Career Center. She is also currently working on obtaining independent housing.
Though tragic, Kimberly’s story is not uncommon, but rather, one that we hear every day in our ministry for homeless, pregnant women. The bigger tragedy would be if we weren’t here for women like Kimberly. Where would she and Elijah be today if they weren’t with us?
Please keep Kimberly and Elijah in your prayers. If you would like to help moms like Kimberly, please visit Good Counsel’s Website for more information about what you can do. God Bless Baby Elijah!
