Happy Mother's Day!

“Good Counsel is truly my place of refuge.  In this place, I found peace, love, and happiness.  In finding these things, I found myself.”  ~ Angelika, Good Counsel Mother

GC30 227Since 1985, your help continues to support homeless, pregnant mothers, babies, and their children.  You have given money, time, support, diapers, clothing, furniture, and prayers!

But did you know that after 30 years of generosity, the greatest gift you give to the women who walk through the door at a Good Counsel Home is the gift of motherhood itself?

The gift of life is given by the Author of Life and your support allows women to say, “Yes,” to motherhood when their whole world and everyone in it says, “No!”

You allow scared women to be brave before they know they are courageous.  You allow young mothers to love when they don’t think they know how.  You give many girls and women hope when all seems lost.  You proclaim, “Be Not Afraid!”

Your support allows many precious women who grace our door to have their own personal fiat, bending to the will of God and bring their baby into the world, under duress, in dire circumstances, often alone with little or no family support.  Your generosity allows Good Counsel to become their family for as long as they need our support, care, and guidance.

Thank you for allowing the women whom we serve to have the only real Mother’s Day gift that matters – their newborn child.  This May 10th, 68 women will be celebrating their very first Mother’s Day since receiving support from Good Counsel Homes and what a day it will be!

“Thank you, women who are mothers!  You have sheltered human beings within yourselves in a unique experience of joy and travail.  This experience makes you become God’s own smile upon the newborn child, the one who guides your child’s first steps, who helps it to grow and who is the anchor as the child makes its way along the journey of life.”  Saint John Paul II, Letter to Women

Please join us this Mother’s Day in prayer for all mothers, everywhere.
