What a great blessing it is for Good Counsel to have the support of Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and the Chair for Pro Life Activities for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Good Counsel honored the Cardinal on December 1st with our annual Father Benedict Groeschel Award.
For those of you who could not attend our dinner in Manhattan, please enjoy this short video of some of highlights of the evening.
At the middle of history, where B.C turns into A.D., stands a pregnant woman. We’ve been awaiting that pregnant woman. The Word of God took flesh in her very womb, and the savior was conceived.
But, this pregnant woman who stands at the very center of history had a problem pregnancy. She was unmarried. She was young. At the time, the earthly father was unknown and when the time came for her to deliver her first born, there was literally no place for her to live.
God brought about our salvation through a pregnant woman. God’s only begotten son was a baby, unborn, then born, in the womb of a woman. That’s what Advent, that’s what Christmas is all about.
And that means that caring for pregnant women, caring for their babies, is our natural and sacred vocation and I don’t know of anybody that does it in a more beautiful and tender and consistent way than our Good Counsel Homes.
And if you ever wonder about that or question it. I encourage you to drop by and visit like I did and you will be convinced.” ~ Cardinal Dolan
Please know of my prayers for you during this year of mercy!
