A Baby Girl is Alive Today Thanks to You!

Posted by | Jun 30, 2016 | No Comments

By God’s grace… on a sidewalk… outside an abortion clinic… a friendly stranger posed a hopeful question: “Do you know that you could keep your child?”

Soon after, Leah was looking at a live image of her six-week-old baby, moving within her womb. “I was shocked,” she says. “I had to protect my baby. I had to make a way.”

It’s a girl! A beautiful child, alive today, because your support brought her mother to Good Counsel. Read More

“He spoke the truth always surrounded with love and compassion.” Fr. Mariusz Koch, C.F.R.

Fr. Mariusz spoke the above words about Father Benedict Groeschel last year as we gathered on Father’s birthday.  Once again, we invite you to join us as we gather on Saturday, July 23, 2016, what would have been his 83rd birthday, to celebrate Father Benedict’s life in thanksgiving for all that he accomplished for the poorest of the poor and the mothers and babies of Good Counsel. Open the Door to Mercy After Abortion

Posted by | Jun 15, 2016 | No Comments

“If we do not begin examining our wretchedness, if we stay lost and despair that we will never be forgiven, we end up licking our wounds, and they stay open and never heal.  Instead there is medicine, there is healing, we only need take a small step towards God or at least express a desire to take it.  A tiny opening is enough.”  (The Name of God is Mercy, Pope Francis, pg. 57)

It is a hard thing for us to admit our wretchedness.  The admission bursts the bubble of our false perceptions of ourselves forces us to see ourselves in truth.  We do not want to believe that we could have ever done something so terrible.  It is all too common a refrain, “I cannot believe I had an abortion.” Read More

What’s the Good News from Good Counsel?

Posted by | Jun 2, 2016 | No Comments

As we continue to hold weekly teleconferences with the house managers from all five of our homes, we’d love to keep sharing our good news with you!

A very large First Communion Class of 145 children chose Good Counsel for their “Year of Giving” service project.  As a class, the children assembled gift baskets with baby items and items for moms.  Spring Valley House Manager, Nanette, visited the class to collect the baskets to deliver to our moms who were delighted with them! (In case you missed it, Nanette was recognized by Cardinal Dolan about a year ago for her service.  You can read about her award here.) Read More
