St. Margaret’s Gym at Infant Jesus Parish was buzzing with excitement on February 4th. At 6:00 p.m. the doors opened and over 200 people excitedly filled the room ready for a night of dinner and dancing, but the highlight would be the fast-paced basket raffle. There were many, many happy winners of bountiful and unique baskets filled with rounds of golf, theater tickets, spa days, weekend getaways, gift cards, and more! Many thanks to Good Counsel Volunteer Lois Rishko for her tireless efforts in creating the basket displays.
Hosted by St. Margaret’s Knights of Columbus Council #13259, the Basket Bonanza has grown each year since it began and we hope and pray the growth will continue next year. The Knights from St. Margaret’s were indispensable and worked non-stop setting up the venue, the dinner buffet, and ensuring that the evening ran smoothly and efficiently from beginning to end.
Father Christopher Mann, Parochial Vicar of Infant Jesus Parish, began the evening with prayer and Bill Klatt, Leadership Team member, followed with opening remarks. Attendees enjoyed music by DJ John Childress while feasting on the all-you-can eat buffet from Botto’s Italian Line Restaurant. South Jersey House Manager, Tara Ingebritsen, shared the mission and ministry of Good Counsel and spoke about the success our mothers have achieved thanks to the generous support of friends, volunteers, and donors.
100% of the proceeds from the Bonanza will help the mothers and babies at the Riverside home as they continue on a path to independence. We are grateful to all those who helped to sell tickets, collect donations for basket items, take pictures, and cleaned up after the event. Thank you to all who joined us for this wonderfully fun evening who laughed and danced with us as we celebrated life and love.
