Like so many of the homeless, pregnant moms we meet . . .
Jen was abused as a child. By the time she was a teen, she was on her own. Searching for love, she found a boyfriend. Soon they had a baby. They rented a room. When she became pregnant again – you guessed it – he fled.
Unable to pay the rent, Jen and her little girl were out on the street. That’s when the authorities came calling. Here’s the irony: If she was addicted or a victim of domestic violence, they would help her find a place to stay. But she wasn’t. So instead – they seized her daughter.
Heartbroken, alone, and with another little one on the way. Can you imagine it?
By God’s grace, she was referred to Good Counsel, where Jen found your kindness, your compassion, and so I was able to welcome her. Hopelessness doesn’t have to have the last word!
Here’s my favorite part of the story. With a social worker from the hospital, Good Counsel went before a judge. I pledged our support, that Jen had a place to stay. The judge gave her little girl back!
The need is urgent. There are so many moms like Jen out there. Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Matthew 5:7 NAB). That is exactly what you’re doing with your gifts to Good Counsel!
Your gift today will express Christ-like mercy to mothers and children in desperate need. Can I count on you now? Can they?
Thank you again and God bless you!Give Now
