accomplishments

At times, it can be difficult to try to quantify the accomplishments achieved by our residents and the dedicated staff who support them. You can count the number of births in our homes, but how do you measure the effect that each birth has on the mother, her family and friends, and all those others; the volunteers, contributors, and associates who celebrate the joy of a new life? You can count the number of Life Skill classes, but how do you measure how important it is for one new mom to learn how to parent her first child? Does it matter if one of our mom’s develops a new skill in using the Internet? It might be invaluable for her future employment in this age of rapidly changing technology. Maybe only God can truly appreciate the impact on the world of a child laughing and playing in one of our home nurseries.

In the year 2010 there were many opportunities for accomplishments of all kinds.

  • Occupancy across all of the homes was 103%
  • There were over 2820 calls for help on our emergency hot line
  • 131 mothers resided within our homes along with 90 children of all ages
  • There were 40 births
  • Over 800 Life Skill Classes were taught within the homes
  • The mothers completed 300 on-line parenting modules from the home learning centers
  • 85% of our mothers did volunteer work in the local communities
  • There was significant improvement measured in all of the Life Skill Topic areas
  • 43% of our mothers were able to receive professional counseling in addition to the counseling provided by our own staff
  • There were 23,183 nights of shelter provided
  • There were 68 women who were still actively engaged with us after leaving our homes through our follow-up Exodus program.

Celebrate the joy of life.
