If you could have just seen the fear in her eyes, I know you would understand.

LeAnne’s own mother had turned her away. So had the father of her child. She had nowhere to lay her head that night — and for a moment, she thought that even Good Counsel might shut the door in her face.

But because of you, LeAnne has a home. For now. For Thanksgiving. For as long as it takes to get her back on her feet.

When even those closest to LeAnne abandoned her, you helped take her in.

It’s because of you that LeAnne will be at our table this Thanksgiving, giving thanks for the life that is growing inside her. Her friends told her she was crazy for not having an abortion, but you encouraged her to stand firm.

“It was the first time someone said to me, ‘You’re going to be okay,’” she told me.

I knew right then that you had been part of another miracle.

You would think I’d get used to it. But somehow, what your love accomplishes never ceases to amaze me. Because you give desperate mothers another option . . . innocent children are alive today.

But somewhere in our city tonight, there’s another frightened and lonely LeAnne who has no one else left to turn to. And for her sake, I’m asking you to do one thing today:

That’s what you helped us do for more than 115 moms and their little ones this past year alone. And I can tell you, it makes all the difference. You see, at Good Counsel, a mom like LeAnne finds far more than just a place where she and her child will be safe —

She finds a home. And friends who understand the struggles she’s up against.

Because we want to help her become the best mother she can be, we make sure she gets great medical care. We help her master the basics of caring for her newborn and show her what to expect as her child grows older. If she’s in school, like LeAnne is, we’ll help arrange childcare — so she can finish her education and become a good provider.

And when she’s ready to take the next step — a full-time job and a place of her own — our staff will still be there for her . . . to pray with her, to hold her hand, and to ensure that she succeeds at regaining her independence.
