First Born

At our Riverside, NJ home, Ernie is our first newborn and affectionately called AJ, born May 18 this year weighing all of 5 lbs. 4 oz. He's more than doubled his weight in two months and has brought enormous joy to all who see him.

First Crops

Our intrepid gardener, Clare Kirk, is a Good Counsel Residential Advisor and along with her grandson, who volunteered, have planted dozens of vegetables including tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, lettuce, rosemary and sage. Moms are learning how to cultivate the crops and will learn about canning and freezing.

Home for pregnant mothers lauded By Chris Bishop Calkins Media, Inc

RIVERSIDE — The young pregnant woman beamed and spoke with confident hope. “The home is inspirational,” she said. “They give you a lot of love. It makes you want to be a better person.” The 20-year-old, who spoke on condition of anonymity for privacy reasons, was referring to the newly opened Good Counsel house. She is one of nine young women who live at the two-story brick home that opened its doors April 6 and was soon filled. Read More

Newest home scheduled to open

Good Counsel is scheduled to open its newest home in Riverside, New Jersey in early 2011. This new home will have the capacity to house 9 mothers and their children. Daily operations will be directed by JoAnn Dinoia, who comes to us with many years experience. She will be a strong asset to our mission.
