Please pray with me on this day:

Holy Innocents

Innocent babes slaughtered as infants for Christ,

innocents slaughter today,

spotless, they follow the Lamb,

without voices they sing forever: Glory to God!

Receive, we pray O Lord,

With our humble prayers and desires,

All the children too young to know You

Will know You.

And we intercede for their spiritual baptism

Through their blood because of Your Most Precious Blood

Shed for all.

Purify each babe, we beseech You

Through our heartfelt, simple sacrifices

which, we beg, You may grant justification

even to those who lack understanding.

Behold those redeemed as the first fruits

of the human race for God and the Lamb,

and who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

On this feast day of these, Your unknown, and unknowingly sanctified, who, though still unable to profess Your Son in speech,

be crowned with Heavenly Grace on account of His birth.

For He lives and reigns for ever and ever

With every one who is a child of God. Amen.
