There are moments in life when the word abundance feels almost too small.
This week at our Riverside home, we witnessed something extraordinary: twelve children under one roof—and four of those twelve were born in just the past two days. Twin boys on Monday morning, another baby boy that same afternoon, and a fourth on Tuesday. Four new lives, already part of this growing family. Four new stories. Four undeniable reminders that life does not arrive quietly—it overflows.
And isn’t that exactly what Easter proclaims?
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not a quiet victory. It is not measured or restrained. It is abundant. The empty tomb is not simply a sign that death has been defeated—it is a declaration that life now rushes forward in ways we cannot contain. Grace multiplies. Hope expands. Love pours out.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” At Riverside, we are seeing that promise unfold in real time.
Abundance is not always neat. It is not always comfortable. Sometimes it looks like exhaustion. It looks like full rooms, crying babies, overwhelmed schedules, and staff running on very little sleep. It looks like Anissa, our case manager, and the entire team pouring themselves out in service to mothers who need not just shelter—but stability, dignity, and love.
This is the paradox of Easter: abundance often comes wrapped in sacrifice.
The cross came before the resurrection. The long nights come before the joy of new life. And yet, in both, God is present—multiplying what we offer, transforming what seems like “not enough” into more than we could ever imagine.
At Good Counsel, we are privileged to stand in that space where sacrifice meets abundance. Where a mother in crisis encounters not rejection, but welcome. Where fear is met with support. Where life—fragile, unexpected, and beautiful—is protected and celebrated.
But this mission does not belong only to our homes.
Easter calls each of us to recognize Christ alive in the world around us. And sometimes, that encounter is not in grand moments, but in quiet, urgent need. It may be in the woman you pass in a grocery store. A friend who confides in you. A stranger whose situation you don’t fully understand—but whose burden you can feel.
What would it mean to be prepared for that encounter?
To see not just a problem—but a person.
Not just a situation—but a soul.
Not just uncertainty—but an opportunity to respond with love.
We invite you this Easter season to do two simple but powerful things:
First, pray. Pray for Anissa, for our staff, and for every mother and child in our homes. Pray for rest, for strength, and for the grace to continue this life-saving work. Pray that in moments of exhaustion, they are renewed by the same abundant love we celebrate at Easter.
Second, be ready. Familiarize yourself with the mission of Good Counsel. Know who we are and what we do. Because if you encounter Jesus in a pregnant woman in need—and you very well might—you will be ready to respond. Have our contact info ready. Help.goodcounselhomes.org 1-800-723-8331
Abundance is not just something we witness. It is something we are invited into.
And this Easter, it is overflowing.
