Three Babies. Three Mothers. Three Lives Changed.

Every birth at Good Counsel is a miracle—but it is also the culmination of a journey that, for many women, once felt impossible.

This July, we joyfully welcomed three beautiful babies into the world:

💗 Blessing Dior, born July 14 at our Staten Island home.

💗 Nashly, born July 17 at our Bronx home.

💙 Christopher, born July 20 at our Bronx home.

Before these babies were welcomed into the world, their mothers were carrying far more than a pregnancy. Many women who come to Good Counsel are also carrying the weight of homelessness, abuse, abandonment, financial hardship, or the fear that they have nowhere to turn. It is in those moments that Good Counsel opens its doors.

For many mothers, the crisis extends beyond a lack of housing. They may be facing pressure to end their pregnancy, struggling without family support, escaping dangerous situations, or wondering how they could possibly provide for a child when they can barely meet their own basic needs.

Without a place like Good Counsel, many of these women would have nowhere to go and no one to help them navigate one of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives.

Instead, they find a home.

They find someone who answers the phone in the middle of the night.

They find a bed, a warm meal, prenatal care, parenting support, counseling, friendship, and people who believe both mother and child are worthy of love and dignity.

By the time a baby is born, the work is far from over—but something extraordinary has already happened. Fear has begun to give way to hope. Isolation has been replaced by community. A mother who once believed she had nowhere to turn has discovered that she is not alone.

These three births are part of a much larger story.

As of July 31, Good Counsel has welcomed 27 babies into the world in 2026. Twenty-seven children whose mothers chose life while facing extraordinary challenges. Twenty-seven reminders that when a mother is met with compassion instead of judgment—and practical support instead of impossible choices—hope can flourish.

Behind every one of those births is a community of generous supporters, faithful volunteers, dedicated staff members, and countless prayers. Together, you are helping mothers choose life, find stability, and build a future for their families.

While we celebrate these 27 new lives, we know there are more mothers knocking on our doors every day, each carrying her own story, her own fears, and her own hope for a better tomorrow.
