For more than two decades, Lumina has been shaped by careful formation, faithful accompaniment, and a profound understanding of the wounds abortion leaves behind. Theresa Bonopartis, who directed Lumina for 23 years, ensured that this work was never isolated to one role or one person, but embedded throughout the life of Good Counsel.

Over the years, intake and case managers, house managers, and in-home staff have received direct training from Theresa herself. This formation has been woven into how Good Counsel walks with mothers and families every day—ensuring that those carrying the hidden pain of abortion are met with compassion, truth, and hope at every point of contact.

In preparation for her transition out of the Director role, Theresa worked closely with Good Counsel leadership and staff to ensure Lumina would remain on stable ground. Systems, training, and institutional knowledge were intentionally shared, strengthened, and reinforced—so that Lumina’s mission would continue uninterrupted.

Lumina remains unshaken in its commitment to serve the “walking wounded”—those silently carrying grief, shame, or despair after abortion. In a world that often overlooks or dismisses this suffering, Lumina continues to offer something rare and essential: a path toward healing grounded in mercy, faith, and truth.
