Rainy days often carry their own quiet kind of beauty, and this Tuesday was no exception.

On this rainy but terrific morning, the Staten Island Good Counsel home welcomed a very special arrival—our first little princess of the year.

At 9:03 a.m., baby Reyla made her entrance into the world, weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 18½ inches long. Reyla arrived safely by C-section, and both mom and baby are doing well and currently recovering.

Reyla’s arrival is especially joyful because she marks an exciting milestone for the Good Counsel family. She is the seventh baby born to Good Counsel mothers so far this year—and the first baby girl welcomed at the Staten Island home in 2026.

Even more exciting, the celebrations may only be beginning.

Two more mothers in our homes are due any day now, and we may soon see even more little blessings joining the Good Counsel family. As the babies continue to arrive, our homes are filled with new life, hope, and the beautiful reminder of why this mission exists.

Every birth at Good Counsel represents something profound: a mother who chose life, a child welcomed into the world, and a community that stood beside them during a time when support was needed most.

Moments like these are why Good Counsel’s homes exist—to ensure that no woman ever feels she must face pregnancy alone.

Today we celebrate Reyla, her brave mother, and the growing family of mothers and babies across all four Good Counsel homes.
