Last Saturday, the mothers of the Good Counsel home in Riverside NJ baked a variety of breakfast danish to take to the families at Ronald McDonald House in Camden. Utilizing baking skills fostered in our Good Counsel homes, the moms enjoyed the time they spent together and look forward to baking again soon. They took a tour of Ronald McDonald House and were moved hearing stories of some of the families who reside there, many of whom have been there for 2 years.

Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey is a home-away-from-home for families who have seriously ill or injured children being treated at local hospitals. They provide families with a warm environment where they can stay for as long as their children are receiving needed medical treatment. The Ronald McDonald House provides the essential comforts of home: comfortable beds, hot showers, home-cooked meals, laundry facilities and much more.

After their visit, many of the Good Counsel moms expressed a desire to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. Of the many skills taught in Good Counsel's homes, giving back to their own community may be the most valuable lessons our moms receive.
